King had some good rounds in jumping this weekend but shone in Flyball as always. His SADAA team the Boland Flyers won both shows at the regional trials and so got the gold overall and trophy. He once again ran every round for the weekend clean and super fast, showing why he makes a brilliant A dog leading his team into each round strongly.
Nilla came away with a first place clear round and so got her last qualification in Grade 2 Agility so is now in Grade 3 in both Jumping and Agility! Nilla also did really well for her flyball team - unfortunately there was one new dog in the team who just couldnt quite get it right. :(

This was a great show of results for us all and being the last show of the year it was a wonderfull way to end. King was awarded his Western Province Flyball Colours and then went on to win the flyball event for the day with his team. Sk-I got a 1st in dog jumping, 2nd in non-contact agility and a 3rd in contact agility. D-Or got a 3rd place in both dog jumping and non-contact agility. Nilla had two lovely clear rounds in dog jumping and non-contact agility but due to the quick times of some of her border collie competition she didnt place in the top 3 :( King also worked well and only eliminated on the 11th jump in dog jumping and in non-contact he came away with only some faults. This is great progress with him - finally we may be getting his speed and drive going in the right direction at the right time!!! Bring on the new year.
What a stunning weekend. And both Nilla and King made me very proud. King did exceptionally well in flyball and won the coverted SAFDA Fastest Flyball Dog trophy with a time of 4.05 seconds. He aslo ran perfectly in both the team and pairs events. With best time in pairs (King and Chinzi) of 8.22 seconds. Nilla who I have not trained in months still brought in 3 first places and a second place in agility and jumping. Will confirm these results when I get the official ones (lost track over the weekend). We had a wonderfull time camping and spending 3 days solidly doing our favourite sports - will definatley be back for more next year.
This past weekend me and King competed in three flyball events. Friday was Flyball pairs racing. Even in the different environment and with some trouble with the flyball box being used King and his buddy Chinzi managed a 1st place. On Saturday in the Flyball team racing some of our team members had some slip ups so we only came 3rd. Glad to say that King performed without fault. On Sunday in the Flyball singles races we just missed 1st place as we were passed by by Chinzi in the second round by less than 3 split seconds. One dissapointment was the use of hand timing which I really dont believe anybody can do 100% accurately. But it was a fun filled weekend and a totally new experience for us. Interesting was the fact that the four top singles dogs are our flyball team for next weekend SADAA Regional Trials so should be interesting ;)
Over the weekend we took part in three flyball events. Kings team took two 1st and a 2nd place and Nilla who was needed to fill a team on Saturday ran like a star with Melanie handling her. Melanie had never done flyball before so did a brilliant job and their team came second with some good times. Was great fun and awesome to see so many teams entered and getting points!!!
At the GSD show on Sunday 5/09/2010 I only took part in the flyball tournament. King and Nilla were in two seperate teams with me running crazily changing dogs and bibs and teams. :) We had good results with Cape Fur Fly (King's team) coming in 1st and Cape Fur Blur (Nilla's team) coming in second. Was good to see that Nilla had not fogotten how to do flyball (she has not run in about 2 years) and both my dogs ran clean the entire event. King also achieved the best singles time at 4.01seconds and the best pairs time with Cleo. All in all a good day of results.
Exciting news is on its way. Finally KingCrest will have its own boy amoungst the mini aussie girls. We are eagerly awaiting the arrival of No-Need4Nitro "Nitro" who should arrive on SA soil from the USA on the 2nd of October if all goes according to plans. Just wanted to introduce him as I couldnt wait any longer. He is a gorgeous black tri boy with a wide blaze, full collar and socks. Also has nice copper trim and the very unusual two blue eyes in a tri. He has a nice structure and looks like he will have a lovely coat. Lets hope he is everything we have been waiting so long for. Here he is ...
At the Liebeek Kennel Show on the 15th August 2010 King earned his last points to become a flyball champion. Very happy to have achieved this title in such a short time and it was only possible with such an exceptional flyball dog as King. Well done boy. :)
Flyball Nationals this year were hold in Bloemfontein. Cape Fur Fly as they usually run were selected as the team to represent WP so we went as such. Over the weekend we got a first, a second and a third place and placed Reserve National Flyball Team 2010. Well done everybody and all the hard work did pay off. Cape Fur Fly ran the fastest time over the weekend as well as being the most consistant team at the Nationals with just one re-run the entire weekend.
